This guide explains how to create your first HD wallet in the TronLink extension and back up its mnemonic phrase. Your HD wallet lets you manage accounts on TRON and EVM networks with one mnemonic phrase.
Before you begin, install the TronLink extension in Google Chrome. For installation instructions, see the Guide to Download TronLink Extension.
1. Open TronLink and select “Create Wallet”
Click the TronLink extension icon in your browser, then select “Create Wallet” on the welcome screen.
When using TronLink for the first time, read the user agreement, scroll to the bottom, and click “I agree, no more reminders”.
2. Set your wallet name and password
On the “Create HD Wallet” screen, enter a wallet name containing 2–14 characters, or keep the default name.
Set a password containing 8–32 characters, including at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. Enter the same password again to confirm it.
If the option to create a GasFree wallet is displayed, select or deselect it as needed. Then click “Create Wallet”.
3. Start backing up your wallet
Once your wallet has been created, click “Back Up Wallet” to continue with the mnemonic backup.
4. Authenticate and begin the backup
Enter your wallet password and click “Confirm”. After authentication, read the instructions on the “Back Up Mnemonic” screen, then click “Back Up”.
5. View and write down your mnemonic phrase
Make sure your surroundings are secure and nobody else can see your screen. Then click “View Mnemonic”.
Write down every word on paper in the numbered order shown on the screen. Check each word’s spelling and position carefully.
6. Verify your mnemonic phrase
After storing your mnemonic phrase safely, click “Already Backed Up”.
For each question, select the word that matches the position requested on the screen. Click “Next” after each of the first two correct answers, then click “Confirm” for the third answer.
If you need to check your backup, click “View” to review your mnemonic phrase, then restart verification.
7. Open your wallet home screen
After successful verification, TronLink displays “Verification Successful” and opens your wallet home screen. Your wallet creation and mnemonic backup are now complete.
